Netconnexions was a community site for strategic decision-makers not only within BT, but also across all its European ISP joint venture partners.
This project was a holistic, ground up development in which Tui designed the graphical page templates and also implemented the technical back-end based on a server platform of Apache running on Linux.
The driving force of the site was an entirely browser-based content management and administration system. Based on PHP scripts working in tandem with a MySQL database, the easy-to-use infrastructure offered users a wide range of useful and powerful features.
Content management and administration
The entire content of the site was populated by its subscriber userbase.
Users were able to upload HTML pages, images, PDFs, MS Word documents, and presentations to the site library as well as specific content areas. Each user had control over their own content, and were able to edit HTML and plain text documents within a browser interface, or delete and upload other content file types. Meanwhile, designated administrators had overall responsibility for all content posted on the site.
The content administration also enabled real-time reports on the server logs as well as active users.
